Purpose and scope
These general terms of sale govern access to the wondarchive service — the site, the web application and the Android capture application — published by the sole trader named in the legal notice, trading as wondarchive, and the purchases made through it. Creating an account or placing an order means accepting these terms; we invite you to keep a copy. The service is aimed at researchers, students, laboratories and institutions.
Definitions

What you are buying
An annual plan — Essential, Standard, Expert or Laboratory — giving access to the service and including, each year, a number of pages kept and credits to transcribe and translate them; storage extensions, per 10,000 pages, and credit packs; a free account, limited to one hundred pages and one year. The pages of a free account left thirty days without a visit go to the bin, from which they are deleted seven days later; an email gives seven days’ notice, and signing in is enough to keep them. The account and its email address are kept. Prices are displayed inclusive of all taxes (VAT not applicable, art. 293 B of the French Tax Code). A page is counted from the moment it is deposited; its transcription and translation are included. A page deleted within the seven days following its deposit, before its transcription, is cancelled; any other page erased from the bin returns a quarter of a page to the plan, never refundable in cash. Pages obtained through referral are extra pages whose first year is free; they are neither refundable nor convertible into cash, and are kept at the standard rate when the referred account ceases to be subscribed. A deleted page stays seven days in the bin, restorable, and is then erased; its text is kept until the subscription’s anniversary date, so that a new deposit of the same photo finds it again without being counted twice, and is then erased. A double page photographed in a single shot counts as one page; a photo of more than 10 MB counts as two pages of space, 15 MB at most.
Creating and securing the account
To create an account, you give a valid email address, a name and a password, or you sign in with Google; this information must be accurate and kept up to date. An account is personal: you neither transfer nor share it, except through the invitations the application provides.
You keep your credentials secret and tell us without delay, at info@wondarchive.com, of any use you have not authorised. You are responsible for what is done from your account.
User obligations
You deposit only documents that you have the right to reproduce and have processed: you own them or have the owner’s permission, and you have complied with the rules of the archive where they were photographed. Where they contain personal data of third parties, you make sure that depositing them is lawful.
You undertake not to deposit unlawful content, not to impede the working of the service, not to bypass its limits, not to use it abusively or automatically beyond reasonable use, and not to resell access to it.
Deposited content and licence
You remain the owner of your documents and your corrections. For the duration of your account and for the sole needs of the service, you grant us a non-exclusive, free licence to host them, to make technical copies of them (reading copies, thumbnails, straightening), to pass them to our providers so that they can be transcribed and translated, and to display them to you and to the people you invite.
We make no other use of them, we do not resell them and they are not used to train any model. The original you deposit is never modified.
Intellectual property
The service, its software, its name, its logo and its content remain the property of wondarchive or its licensors. Your plan gives you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right of use for the duration of the subscription, without any transfer of ownership. The texts the service produces from your documents (transcriptions, translations, records) are meant for you: you may use, cite and publish them under your own responsibility.
Availability and maintenance
We endeavour to keep the service accessible at all times, but it may be interrupted for maintenance, an update or a fault; we then try to limit the duration and, where possible, to warn you. Page processing takes a variable time depending on load, with no guaranteed duration.
Liability and limits
Transcriptions, translations, records, and the names and places picked out are produced automatically: they may contain errors, particularly on difficult hands, damaged documents or rare languages. They do not replace reading the document; it is for you to check them before any scholarly or legal use and before any citation. What you correct is kept and is never overwritten by the machine.
We make regular backups, but the service does not replace keeping your originals: keep your own copies and export your data when useful (see “Reversibility”). Within the limits of the law, our liability is limited to direct and foreseeable damage and does not extend to indirect damage. Nothing in these terms excludes a liability that cannot be excluded by law, in particular towards a consumer.
Force majeure
Neither party is liable for a failure due to force majeure within the meaning of the French Civil Code: a general network or power failure, an incident at a host or supplier, a cyberattack, a natural disaster, a decision of an authority… Performance is suspended for the duration of the event; if it goes on so long that the service becomes impossible, either party may end the contract as provided by the Civil Code.
Reversibility
You may at any time, free of charge, export all of your data — originals, reading copies, texts, translations, metadata — in open formats. This clause admits no exception.
Termination and dormancy
The subscription may be terminated at any time; it runs until its term. On termination, the account may go dormant, at the rate indicated at that time: pages, texts and annotations are kept, and only the deposit of new pages is suspended. A closed account is erased within thirty days; its images leave the backups thirty days later, its texts and its index within thirty-six months.
Suspension
We may suspend an account, after informing you by email except in an emergency, if these terms are breached: unlawful content, harm to the security or proper working of the service, abusive use, a confirmed unpaid amount. The suspension lasts as long as it takes to end the breach; if it is serious or continues, we may terminate the account. The reversibility clause continues to apply.
Changes to the terms
We may change these terms, in particular to reflect a change in the service or in the law. The version in force is the one published on this page; any substantial change is announced to you by email or on screen, with reasonable notice before it applies. It does not apply to a subscription already paid for the current year, unless the law requires, and you may terminate if it does not suit you.
Withdrawal
Fourteen days for a consumer, in accordance with the French Consumer Code (Code de la consommation); pages transcribed during this period at your express request are due.
To exercise it, tell us of your decision, unambiguously, by email to info@wondarchive.com before the fourteen-day period following the conclusion of the contract ends. The digital service starts only with your agreement; the pages already transcribed at your express request are due, as the French Consumer Code provides, and the rest is refunded to you within the legal time limits.
Customer service
For any question, complaint or request about an order: info@wondarchive.com. We reply as soon as we can; please give the email address of your account and the subject of your request.
Consumer mediation
Every consumer has the right to use a consumer mediator, free of charge, to seek an amicable settlement of a dispute with us, after first making a written complaint to us. The mediator’s contact details are provided on request at info@wondarchive.com.
Partial invalidity
If a provision of these terms is declared void or unenforceable, the others remain in force. Not relying on a right at a given moment does not mean waiving the right to rely on it later.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by French law. In the event of a dispute, we first look for an amicable solution (see “Customer service” and “Consumer mediation”). Failing that, the competent courts are those designated under the ordinary rules of law, subject to the rules protecting consumers.
