Where your images are, who reads them, how you leave

The page a library reads before any other. Every line is verifiable, and every commitment appears in the terms of sale.

where

Three data centres, at OVHcloud

Everything is at OVHcloud, a French company certified ISO 27001, 27017 and 27018, in France. Your originals sit in storage reserved for them, in Paris, spread across three independent data centres: losing one of them loses nothing. Reading copies, texts and the index are on a server in France; every night, an encrypted backup of the texts and the index goes to a second storage, itself spread across three data centres in Paris and locked for thirty days against erasure. A deleted page stays in the bin for seven days, restorable, then is erased: its image, original and reading copies, disappears at once. Its text is kept until your subscription’s renewal date, so that redepositing the same photo finds it again, then is erased; it may nonetheless remain in the database’s backups for up to thirty-six months.

reading

Read, never learned from

Transcription and translation are done by models called from our servers, within the European Union. Your documents serve only you: they train no AI model, and only you and the people you invite can access them.

never

What we don’t do

No selling or sharing of data, no advertising, no third-party tracker on this site. Our subcontractors — hosting, page reading, payment, email — are listed in the privacy policy.

leaving

With everything, at no cost

Full export — originals, copies, texts, translations, metadata, in open formats — is available at any time from your account. It’s a clause of the terms of sale, not a favour.

gdpr

Your rights

Access, rectification, erasure, portability: from your account or by email. A closed account’s data is erased within thirty days; images leave the backups thirty days later, texts and the index within thirty-six months.

law

French law, French courts

The host and the publisher are in France; reading takes place in the European Union.

Keeping your archive photos: the four ways

What each one really protects. Checked in September 2026 against publishers’ public documents; what isn’t published is stated as such, not turned into a criticism.

Recompression is the point that matters most for an archive: a photo rewritten smaller loses the detail automatic reading depends on, and the loss is permanent. Sources: OVHcloud compliance, Transkribus, “Is my data safe?”, Google Photos backup quality.
